REGINA — First and foremost, students at the First Nations University of Canada want their school to stay open, the president of the FNUC students' association said Friday morning.

After a meeting at which FNUC students received information on the services that are available for them and how they could possibly transition into the University of Regina, Diane Adams says FNUC students feel strongly that they want a way to be found to keep the FNUC open and functioning despite the provincial government's announcement Wednesday that it would cut funding to the FNUC.

Meanwhile, the president of the University of Regina Students' Union called the situation at the FNUC "a very unfortunate event" and said his group will do everything in its power to help FNUC students.

Kyle Addison added he also supports attempts to get theFNUC's funding reinstated.
